God’s Drill Brings Forth A Gusher Of Faith

feature photo

Texas, as we all know, is rich in oil. That oil was in the ground for thousands of years until it was discovered around the turn of the twentieth century. The oil was there all along, but someone had to find a way to get it out of the ground.

How did they do it? Someone invented a machine that drilled deep into the earth until it touched a pocket of oil and, under immense pressure, the oil came up.

You have probably seen photographs, films or documentaries from the days when drillers would strike oil and it would spurt up a hundred feet or more into the air in what was called a “gusher.”

That being said, God has given each of us a “spiritual gusher” in the form of faith. Moreover, He has given each of us the measure of faith.

Romans 12:3 (AMP)

3For by the grace (unmerited favor of God) given to me I warn everyone among you not to estimate and think of himself more highly than he ought [not to have an exaggerated opinion of his own importance], but to rate his ability with sober judgment, each according to the degree of faith apportioned by God to him.

God has allotted to each of us a quantity of faith. We all have it. It is there. It simply needs to be brought forth. How you might ask? The following scripture tells us exactly how.

Romans 10:17 (AMP)

17So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).

Simply stated, faith comes by hearing the Word of God, and it is something that is built up through the Word.

God’s Word is like a drill. Look at the following scripture as evidence.

Hebrews 4:12 (AMP)

12For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.

The Word of God drills down deep into our hearts where the reservoir of faith is. As our faith rises up and we release it like a gusher to believe God, He can work mighty miracles in and through our lives.

For some firsthand examples of faith and what the release of it can do, meditate on what the Psalmist David spoke as well as the words Jesus told His disciples when He walked among them.

Psalm 37:3-5 (AMP)

3Trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) in the Lord and do good; so shall you dwell in the land and feed surely on His faithfulness, and truly you shall be fed.
4Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.
5Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass.

Matthew 21:21-22 (AMP)

21And Jesus answered them, Truly I say to you, if you have faith (a firm relying trust) and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, Be taken up and cast into the sea, it will be done.
22And whatever you ask for in prayer, having faith and [really] believing, you will receive.

Mark 11:24 (AMP)

24For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].

John 6:47 (AMP)

47I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, he who believes in Me [who adheres to, trusts in, relies on, and has faith in Me] has (now possesses) eternal life.

In summary, if we allow the Word of God to drill deep into our hearts, causing our faith to rise up, we can begin to believe God for the miracles we need today and eternally.

God Bless!
