Controlling Our Emotions
Many sincere people have the false idea that being a victorious Christian means one is always calm and undisturbed. Never grieved or upset. Never angry or moved by anything. Unemotional stone faces.
Nothing could be farther from the truth, or more unrealistic. God made man a spiritual being. Therefore, he is moved and dominated by powerful emotions.
We are capable of the strongest feelings… bitterest hate, sweetest love, highest joy and deepest sorrow. That being said, the problem is not in our having emotions, but in not knowing how to handle them.
Jesus responded to life in every way. He was emotional, exactly as we are, with this exception: He guided His emotions.
Hebrews 4:15 (AMP) describes Jesus like this:
15For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning.
Jesus’ example teaches us to deal with our feelings by handling them in a positive way, instead of allowing them to control us. By directing them toward right ends, and making them work for us instead of against us.
To summarize, Jesus understands our feelings because He has walked in our shoes. Through His strength and power, we can handle our emotions in a positive way.
God Bless!

I am academically working on the problem of evil, and I think you make a good point.
